Sailing Classes for the Visually and Hearing Impaired

LEARN TO SAIL! HAVE SOME FUN! BE ADVENTUROUS! CHALLENGE YOURSELF! FIND YOUR INNER SAILOR!

These class are designed to accommodate blind or visually impaired, and deaf or hard of hearing individuals. They are meant to be an opportunity to experience the joy, excitement, therapeutic value, and rewards that go hand in hand with learning how to sail.

Small-group classes are held from 5:30pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings throughout June and July. Each class is separate. It is designed to provide you with a "Taste of Sailing", where you will learn and experience the fundamentals of sailing. The school is located in the historic Pistakee Yacht Club, 3300 Rocky Beach Road, on beautiful Pistakee Bay, in Johnsburg, Illinois.

The classes are being supported by donations from the Fox Lake Lions Club and the Lake County Deaf and Hard of Hearing Lions Club. We sincerely thank them for their generosity. The classes are free to Lions Club members. However, there is a $75 non-member course fee.
